About
ARTIST STATEMENT
We are amalgams of our history, and my art is an embodiment of these years of living. My paintings represent the inner geography of the emotional, physical, and psychological world. My task as an artist is to put into a visual language that which cannot, dare not, or is difficult to express in words. However, my profound love of the materiality of oil paint and the painting process is balanced with recognition of these psychological and contemporary concerns.
The roots of the true self grow before the acquisition of verbal language. My paintings probe feeling states deep and close to the inner self. Through painting abstractly, I render those conditions evident. My background as a psychologist merges seamlessly with my painting.
Currently, I am interested in the intersection between age and creativity. My past works have explored gender, mortality, and childhood memory.
